Auto Grouping
Auto-grouping is a feature that treats nodes completely contained within another node as children of the outer (parent) node.
Enable / Disable
Click the "Auto grouping" button (group icon) on the toolbar to toggle it on or off. The button is highlighted when enabled. It is on by default.
This on/off state is saved in document data and restored the next time you open the file.
How It Works
- Moving a parent node moves all child nodes inside it together
- Directly selecting and moving a child node moves it independently from its parent
- Multi-level nesting is supported (if A is inside B, and B is inside C, moving C moves all)
With Tables
When dragging a table divider to adjust column width or row height, any nodes in adjacent cells also resize and move if auto-grouping is enabled.
💡 If you use a large rectangle as a background with many nodes inside, turning off auto-grouping makes it easier to move just the background.
